1 TIMOTHY
Our understanding of the Bible is bound up in culture and history. we are far removed from the original context in which the Bible was written, and biased by our own culture and experience. It is therefore of vital importance, when we seek to interpret and apply Scripture, that we do so with an undetrstanding of our own biases and culture, of the disparity between the original culture and the present culture, and the role that history has played in traditional or accepted interpretations of Scripture. This subject is designed with these concerns in mind, to equip students to appropriately interpret and apply Scripture with integrity.

ACCESSING THE BIBLE
Followers of Jesus know that you cannot be a disciple of Jesus Christ if you do not have a regular intake of the Word of God. While reading and hearing the proclamation of the Bible are the primary ways by which this occurs Christians need to develop ways by which they can more deeply interpret and apply the Scriptures if they are to grow.

ACTS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
The book of Acts describes the birth of the church and its development from being essentially a Jewish sect to being the dynamic and growing body of Christ mainly composed of Gentile believers. It is an exciting book in which we see the Gospel spread powerfully, clearly enabled by the empowering and evidence of the Holy Spirit. How are we to understand and apply this book for ourselves as believers in the 21st Century - should we be returning to our roots and become like the 1st Century church, as many would suggest? This subject looks at what took place then and what the implications are for us nowadays.

APOSTOLIC REFORMATION
Much has been said and written about the Apostolic. Since 1901, when the term was passed around in the Pentecostal Revivals, in Wales and England in the 1940’s and more recently in post-prophetic churches embracing a new kind of leadership.
In many cases though, apostolic is simply being used as a stand in for bishop or pastoral work. People who are concerned about losing their place in the pecking order, are taking up the title apostle, without the call from God to back it up.
This is a dangerous practise, as dangerous as calling yourself a doctor when you have no medical training. People come to a doctor, seeking advise and healing.
People come to an apostle with certain expectations too. This stream is dedicated to looking firstly at Biblical Apostolic foundations, then at historical and lastly modern day expressions of the apostolic ministry.
Our hope is to demystify the role, and re-engineer it in the minds of students.
Bringing the ministry back to it’s ordinary and supernatural fundamentals. We will also look at team work (apostles, prophets and teachers), eldership, the city wide church and fathering under this module.

AUTHENTIC CHRISTIANITY
Available for Purchase
In New Testament times the purity of the gospel was already under siege. Some of the New Testament epistles were written to defend the true nature of the gospel against legalism on the one hand and licentiousness on the other. Authentic Christianity is a brief exposition of three vital New Testament epistles Romans Galatians and Hebrews. These epistles were written against a background in which the gospel was either being explained clarified or defended. These epistles are as relevant today as they were to the age in which they were written.

The church must take a serious look at how ineffective we are with families and children, and see that they make up a large percentage of the population. COUNSELLING GODS WAY
Available for Purchase
This subject is all about Christians counselling Christians. Christian counselling ought to be distinct from secular counselling for two reasons. First we are able to draw upon the divine wisdom found in Gods Word. Second Christians have access to divine resources to cope with the difficulties of life. The aim of Christian counselling is to deliver counselees from independence and co dependence and lead them into a Christ dependent lifestyle. At least it should be.
Sadly, the concept of Christian counselling, in many circles, has come to mean no more than simply Christians who counsel regardless of the nature of their counsel. And this is where the problem lies. Much of Christian counselling today is an attempt to integrate secular psychology with biblical principles. This is an impossible task. Both belief systems are diametrically opposed. In the end one belief system will be compromised. Surprisingly, in the main, Christians are all too ready to trade the Word of God for the popular theories that are constantly evolving in the world of psychology.
Working from the premise of the sufficiency of the Scriptures to direct the lives of Christians, this subject goes on to help students work out the principles of Biblical counselling in several everyday counselling situations.

CREATIVE PREACHING AND TEACHING
Available for Purchase
What D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said nearly thirty years ago remains true today. The most urgent need in the Christian church is true preaching; and as it is the greatest and most urgent need in the church, it is obviously the greatest need of the world also. Such preaching is God`s means for accomplishing God`s purposes. John A. Broadus also noted that, In every age of Christianity, since John the Baptist drew crowds into the desert, there has been no great religious movement, no restoration of Scripture truth, and reanimation of genuine piety, without new power in preaching, both as cause and as effect. If we hope to see genuine revival and reformation, there must be a return of power to the pulpit. Spirit-anointed preaching of God`s Word by people fully committed to the task is the great need of the day.

DOCTRINE
To learn doctrine is to learn something taught, to receive instruction and gain understanding systematically. We will use the term doctrine in these notes to refer to truth in God’s word that can be taught. The word doctrine is used 56 times in the KJV, and one of these is Acts 2:42. The apostles told the early church converts to “continue steadfastly” in the apostle’s doctrine.
We will, in this stream, be learning ‘theology’, which simply means the study of God.
The Judaic faith brought together the discovery of God in His word, the learning of religious doctrines and the outworking of faith in life. The Greeks conceived of this process as ‘theology’ – from theos: God and logos: a discourse or words.

FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
Available for Purchase
The source for Christian living is not human strength and endeavour, but the grace of God. But what if we choose not to avail ourselves of the grace of God? What if we quench the leading and enabling of the Holy Spirit and live a life of sin and defeat? From Strength To Strength seeks to outline the responsibilities of grace. God has not only saved us from condemnation but also unto a life of holiness leading to glory. His grace releases us to be all that God intends for us. He has even promised to reward us for walking worthy of His Son whilst on earth! This reward, however, is an inheritance which can be forfeited. Only when we have successfully run our race can we say, as Paul said, that there is a crown of righteousness laid up for us in the age to come.

GOING DEEPER A
Available for Purchase
Christians often jokingly say that the answer to just about every question in Sunday School or Religious Education classes is: God, the Bible or Jesus. But if a persons faith is to last a life-time, it will require them to face questions which cannot be answered with trite responses. It is possible to feel very confident and passionate in our Christian lives and beliefs until we encounter
a. people who hold opposing views just as confidently and passionately or who challenge our views rigorously
b. life situations which do not seem to have clear Biblical answers
c. levels of pain and suffering in our relationship with God that we did not expect to encounter and which can even cause us to question Gods goodness
This subject aims to help students go deeper in their theology, their application of Biblical principles to their personal management skills, and their appreciation of God and His character in the midst of tough times.
This study should result in growth in the individual, personally, in their relationship with God and in their interaction with others in everyday life; and in their specific areas of ministry.

JEREMIAH
Every Christian should study the book of Jeremiah, yet it is one of the least read books of the Bible. It is confusing, non-chronological, and depressing! It is the story of one man who was called by God to preach his word to a stubborn and rebellious people; Jeremiah`s obedience cost him everything. But it is in this story of hardship and struggle, immense suffering and persecution, that we see the costly sacrifice demanded of those who claim to follow Christ. More than that, though, God is shown to be a passionate lover of all people, committed to seeking and saving those who have turned their backs on Him. If we claim to follow Christ, if we want to serve the Living God, this is the yoke that we must bear - obedience, sacrifice whatever the cost, pouring out our lives in love, not obligation. Success as a Christian is not measured by the number of people who respond to our message. It is vital that we not only understand, but also learn and apply, the lessons of the life of Jeremiah.
