ACOM is offering this 3-day facilitation as a professional development
opportunity for all Christian leaders, in addition to ACOM
students who are encouraged to attend the facilitation as part of their
study in subject PT234C Becoming a Missional Leader.
About the speakers: Dr Keith Farmer (B.Comm., B.A., D.Min.), Mentor of Christian leaders and past Principal of ACOM. Keith currently mentors a large number of Senior Pastors from around Australia. Until recently Keith was Principal of Australian College of Ministries and lectured in Pastoral Studies for 23 years. He was largely responsible for the transitioning of ACOM from two State Theological Colleges to the leading position it holds amongst Australian Theological Colleges today. As well as being trained in theology Keith holds degrees in both Accountancy and Psychology. Keith's interests include walking, watching sport, news and current affairs. Peter McHugh, Senior Minister, Christian City Church, Whitehorse, VIC. Peter with his wife Lyn and 12 other people moved to Melbourne from Sydney to plant a church in 1990. Today, Christian City Church Whitehorse has a congregation in excess of 1,200. Peter is a university graduate with a qualification in Social Work . Peter wrote his second book A Voyage of Mercy - personal reflection on performance and acceptance in 2006. In it he tells his own story with, at times, excruciating levels of honesty and vulnerability. Peter combines his extraordinary leadership gift with a profound revelation of the overwhelming love, goodness and mercy of God. His passion is to impart this to others. Course description: This course introduces students to a series of inter-related issues for Christian leadership in a conflicted and competitive marketplace. It focuses on enabling the Christian leader to (1) self-manage themselves to ensure a sustained, resilient, positive and spiritual leadership in their ministry work-places; (2) which produces effective missional outcomes through modelling the grace, love, justice and mercy of God; and (3) producing healthy, effective, flourishing and harmonious Church community. The course works with the concept of living in the love and grace of God as a Christian disciple and leader.
