Fuller Doctor of Ministry

Cross-Credit available through ACOM

Students who are externally enrolled in Fuller Theological Seminary's Doctor of Ministry Program are able to register in Postgraduate subjects offered through the Australian College of Ministries. Facilitation attendance and assessed work completed in conjunction with these Postgraduate subjects can be cross-credited into Fuller's D.Min program.

Prospective Fuller D.Min students should note that:
  1. It is now possible for externally enrolled students to complete Fuller's D.Min Award with only one visit to the United States.

  2. The D.Min award comprises 48 units. These units may be completed in a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 7 years. A maximum of 24 units may be completed in any one academic year. Students must complete one subject before commencing another.

  3. 20 of the 48 required units can be completed by seeking credit for work undertaken in conjunction with Postgraduate Subjects and Facilitations offered through Australian College of Ministries. The remaining 28 units must be completed directly through Fuller, usually in the following way.
    • A four (4) unit orientation can be taken on-line with Fuller, with an additional 4 units taken as an Independent Study (comprising, in total, one 8 unit subject).
    • 12 units are required to be completed on the Fuller Seminary Campus (Pasedena, USA).
    • The final 8 units are taken as a final Report or Project that can be completed externally in Australia.

  4. The Australian College of Ministries usually hosts two Postgraduate Facilitations each year, with Fuller professors as Facilitators, in which externally enrolled Fuller students seeking cross-credit may register.
    • Facilitations relating to 8 unit Fuller subjects are usually conducted over one week.
    • Facilitations relating to 12 unit Fuller subjects are usually conducted over two weeks.

  5. Normally 3000 pages of reading are required for an 8 unit Fuller subject, and 4500 pages of reading are required for a 12 unit Fuller subject.
    • External students seeking credit for reading completed before an ACOM Postgraduate Facilitation are usually required to submit, on the first day of the Facilitation, a single page (250 word approx.) Report/Reflection on each book they have read.

  6. After a Postgraduate Facilitation, external Fuller students seeking credit will complete a written project that applies the information and theory contained in their reading and coursework to their ministry setting(s). Generally 40-50 pages of writing for an 8 unit subject, or 60-70 pages for a 12 unit subject, are required.

  7. Australian students wishing to enroll externally in the Fuller D.Min program are requested to do so online - this speeds the enrollment process considerably.
    Enrolling students require:
    • 4 years of Theological study, usually comprising a three year B.Th (or equivalent) plus a Graduate Diploma, OR
    • a 4 year B.Th Honours degree, OR
    • a 3 year B.Th plus a degree in another field.
    Further, a student must:
    • have completed 3 years full time ministry experience post-graduation from their theology degree;
    • have successfully completed at least 1 year of biblical languages (Greek or Hebrew) included in their Theology or other degree; and
    • demonstrate tertiary writing proficiency (usually a sample paper or essay is submitted with the student's enrollment application).

In 2009, students enrolled externally in the Fuller D.Min will pay A$220 per unit for participation in ACOM Postgraduate Subjects/Facilitations and US$321 per unit for subjects taken directly through Fuller.

A Deposit of A$300 is due at the time of registering for a Postgraduate Subject offered in Australia, with the balance being paid 7 days prior to attending any related Facilitation.
