Spiritual Leadership
August 13-17, 2012 - Richard Blackaby
Spiritual leadership is not an occupation: it s a calling. Only when we understand leadership in light of God's calling on our lives will we be equipped to lead effectively. According to the Bible, God is not necessarily looking for leaders, at least not in the sense we generally think of leaders. He is looking for servants (Isa. 59:16; Ezek. 22:30). When God finds men and women willing to bee molded into his servants, the possibilities are limitless. People are looking for someone to lead them into God's purposes God's way. They need leaders who truly believe God will do what he says. People will follow spiritual leaders who understand God's agenda and who know how to move them on to it.
Students will be challenged to allow God to shape them into spiritual leaders through whom God will work powerfully. This course is designed to challenge and inspire students to actively serve as spiritual leaders. It will help students to examine the significant ways that secular leadership theories intersect with biblical principles and values, examine their current approach to leadership, and reflect on how they might lead at a higher level.
This course can be studied for credit for Undergraduate, MA and DMin Students, or can be attended for audit only. ACOM students will be enrolled in the unit "Issues in Spiritual Leadership" PT394C or PT594C, and only will attend the first three days of the course - Monday to Wednesday August 13-15.
Dr Richard Blackaby has served as the president of Blackaby Ministries International since July 2006. He is the former president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary and has written and co-authored several books including Spiritual Leadership and Experiencing God. Richard speaks internationally on the Christian life, spiritual leadership and revival. He mentors leaders through the Spiritual Leadership Network and he works with Christian CEOs of major companies in the
United States.
