Specialities
The following specialised areas of study are available through ACOM but are taught by Specialist Providers in various regions throughout Australia.
Specialties subjects can be studied as individual subjects for personal/professional development or as part of the DipTh and BTh Undergraduate Courses. They are also offered at a Postgraduate level with the exception of Reformer and Youth Ministry subjects.
Pioneer
Pioneer subjects are developed by Forge, a mission training network designed to shape and equip a leadership style appropriate for the task of mission and church planting in a "first world" setting. Subjects relate to the "evangelists" listed in Ephesians 4:11. They equip leaders who are called to begin new structures for mission, including church planting and emerging churches.
Reformer (Undergraduate only)
Reformer subjects are developed by TEAR Australia, a movement of Australian Christians responding to the needs of poor communities around the world by supporting the initiatives of other Christian groups and churches, working with the poor in their communities. Subjects relate to the "prophets" listed in Ephesians 4:11. They equip leaders who are convicted that the essence of the gospel is social renewal, bringing justice and release to the poor and oppressed.
Revitaliser
Developed through ACOM's Postgraduate professional development branch, Revitaliser subjects relate to the "pastor-teachers" listed in Ephesians 4:11. They equip leaders who see value and promise in existing church structures and resources and are called to breathe new life into the mission of those structures to renew their impact on the community.
Team Leader
Developed through ACOM's Postgraduate professional development branch, Team Leader subjects relate to the "apostles" listed in Ephesians 4:11. They equip leaders to lead larger, regional churches, with multiple ministries and staff and significant visibility in their community.
Youth Ministry (Undergraduate only)
Youth Ministry subjects are developed by Youth Vision Australia, a cooperation of Churches of Christ state youth ministries in various states. Subjects train youth ministers and leaders for churches to build relational youth ministries, which encourage Christ-likeness and devotion in youth and release their gifts for ministry.
